Large envelopes from the G. Lalo Verge de France range, 4.25 x 8.5 in, sold 20 to a pack. Each one is made of laid paper with 25% cotton, has a gummed flap and is lined with a fine white tissue. Reach for them for invitations, special occasions or any letter that deserves the best. The range comes in a variety of shades; the colors you can order are shown in the option menu. Matching Verge de France writing paper, 8.25 x 11.75 in, is sold separately.

Once upon a time, the paper Verge was made by hand in huge vats. Today, G. Lalo makes the same paper according to traditional methods but with modern techniques. Verge refers to the grid of parallel translucent lines (vergeures) that was formed in handmade paper as the sheets were laid to dry (the origin of the term laid finish). These grids are very helpful as guides for handwriting. In addition, they add a distinctive look and feel - the mark of an elite letter writing paper.
