About G. Lalo

Originating in Paris in 1919, G. Lalo quickly rose to be 'de rigueur' for social stationery in Paris and in the royal courts across Europe. Throughout the years, the elegance and quality of G. Lalo stationery lends it to be the first choice when pleasure or etiquette require the best in matters of correspondence, invitation, or simply, writing.

Georges-Lalo-rue Richer-Paris The story begins when Georges Lalo was employed by a printing and stamping company, where he learned the skills of working with paper during the day, while attending drawing and sketching classes at night. Just after World War I, G. Lalo arrived in Paris in the summer of 1919, and with his skills, passion and ambition went to creating fine stationery. He rented a studio on rue Richer in Paris, bought used stamping equipment, and G. LALO, manufacture de papiers a lettres et d'enveloppes de luxe, was born.

G. Lalo has remained a small personal stationery maker, preserving its Parisian identity and "bon gout Francais" -- the quintessence of sophistication and elegance. We celebrate his passion as we enjoy writing and sharing cards and letters.

Verge Laid Paper

Once upon a time, the paper Verge was made by hand in huge vats. Today, G. Lalo makes the same paper according to traditional methods but with modern techniques. Verge refers to the grid of parallel translucent lines (vergeures) that was formed in handmade paper as the sheets were laid to dry (the origin of the term laid finish). These grids are very helpful as guides for handwriting. In addition, they add a distinctive look and feel - the mark of an elite letter writing paper.

Eco-Friendly

G. Lalo's parent company, ExaClair, has made a significant commitment to be a leader in creating products that are environmentally friendly. Following international environmental standards organizations including the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Program for Endorsement of Forest Certifications (PEFC), and the Blue Angel certificaiton group.

The Parisian social stationery manufacturer since 1919, G. Lalo provided the royal courts of Europe with handcrafted stationery. Two aspects of G.
