Social Stationery Writing Set

In the foothills of the Himalayas, the Daphne plant (locally known as Lokta) grows in abundance at altitudes over 6500 feet. Lokta paper is made from the bark of the Lokta plant - removing only the bark from the Lokta promotes new growth and is actually beneficial to it. The controlled harvest of the Lokta ensures a sustainable and eco-friendly paper-making process. These are made by women cooperatives and small cottage industries in Nepal which employ mostly women.

This wonderful collection of paper, stationery, and journals is entirely hand-made from lokta paper, a renewable, sustainable resource. Lokta paper is made from the bark of the Daphne Cannabina bush, which grows naturally in the Himalayas at altitudes of 6500 to 9500 feet. After harvesting, the Daphne Cannabina bush naturally regenerates, reaching full maturity again in six to seven years. The paper and the process of making it are completely natural.
