Sennelier Esquisse D1 Drawing Pad (9.5 x 13.5)

The Esquisse D1 Drawing Pad is a vintage pad from Sennelier that has thankfully never really changed. Its cover graphics bring to mind the Vespas and hip Cafe society of 1950's Paris. If you were to walk into the Sennelier store back then you'd find them sitting on the shelves with the exact same look. The top of the pad features a French double ring binding. The paper is machine-made, pH neutral, with a smooth surface great for drawing or sketching.

The breakthrough in color accomplished by Cezanne, Pissarro, Bonnard, and Picasso came from a palette of colors created by Gustave Sennelier. These artist's watercolors are still made using the company's original turn-of-the-century techniques. Sennelier uses only the purest pigments which are cold ground on porcelain grindstones - this avoids heating the pigments which can alter the color's shade.
